SALTHILL CRICKET CLUB OPEN DAY
Salthill Cricket Club held their '4th Open Day' on Sunday to raise monies for St Wilfred’s Hospice and Salthill Cricket Club. It
took much hard work before and on the day in the preparations for this annual
and popular local event.
The event was well attended by a large number of people and
was enjoyed by all with many excellent and positive comments made of the day. The homemade fresh WI cakes made by Maggie Borsberry were much sought after
especially the delicious fresh cream scones, Thanks go to Tony Harrison and
Linda Rice who not only sold cakes, they also sold the Millstone Landscapes
donated plants with the proceeds going to the hospice.
The charity cricket
match was a very entertaining and close run affair, after of which the fresh
meat BBQ, prepared and cooked to perfection by Nick Heather and Nick Shrubb was
also enjoyed by the spectators.
The day was completed with the much awaited HUGE raffle where
many fantastic and kind donations from local business were entered into the
draw , without these we could not raise the monies for good causes. The raffle was hosted by Salthill club president, Bernard Wallsgrove,
The total raised on the day was a excellent £1,128.00 with
the monies being shared equally between the two good causes, however St Wilfrids
Hospice will also have monies from their collection buckets to increase their
share of the monies
Our thanks to all those who offered and
helped out on this fantastic day of which without we would not have had the
success that we had, also again I would like to offer a huge thankyou to all
those kind people who contributed to the prize draw with magnificent
